About the Job:
FINCA is seeking a Channel Development Officer for its microfinance bank start-up in Owerri, Nigeria. S/he will be responsible to support the development of delivery channels and front-end technology in order to improve clients’ access to financial services, to enhance savings mobilization efforts, and to lower costs for organization and its clients.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  •     Work in conjunction with executive management to formulate and implement innovative strategies for serving customers using fixed and mobile technologies (POS, ATMs, mobile phones) through a variety of delivery models (branch, kiosk, field, virtual, etc.);
  •     Effectively execute organization’s agency banking strategy, including sourcing, training, and management of the agency banking network in a way that ensures compliance with regulations and organization's standards, delivers high-quality customer service, and mitigates potential risks for organization;
  •     Manage, monitor, and report on organization’s various delivery channels as distinct business units, focusing on profitability, risk management, and performance across key outreach, efficiency, and customer satisfaction indicators;
  •     Work closely with the business, banking services, and information services departments to regularly evaluate channel strategies and modify as needed in order that they support growth in outreach and sales while delivering excellence in customer service from a reliable, robust, and controlled technological environment;
  •     Establish and monitor servicing relationships with internal and external parties, including back and front office staff, agents, networks, and other service providers;
  •     Effectively and professionally represent organization’s delivery channels initiatives, especially when dealing with external stakeholders or third parties.

Qualifications:
  •     Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in related discipline required;
  •     Minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial, retail or microfinance banking;
  •     Experience in the financial sector with deployment of technology-based delivery channels or the provision of financial services outside of traditional brick and mortar branches is preferred;
  •     Proven people management and communication skills;
  •     Business acumen is preferred and a common-sense approach to problem solving is required;
  •     Strategic planning exposure and experience in cash flow projections highly desirable;
  •     High level of proficiency in MS-Office Suite (especially Excel) is required;
  •     Fluency in English required, Igbo or other local language skills strongly desirable.
